IRS Volume-1, Issue-3 Summary

This issue brings together diverse yet interconnected research contributions that shed light on sustainability, workplace equality, and financial innovation, offering valuable insights for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers alike. One study provides an overview of sustainable consumption research, emphasizing how consumer choices can balance basic needs with reduced environmental impact. It identifies the predominance of survey-based quantitative approaches, often grounded in behavioral theories such as the Theory of Planned Behavior, alongside qualitative methods like interviews and case studies that capture deeper motivations. Mixed-methods research plays a crucial role in scale development, while conceptual contributions continue to expand the theoretical base. Environmental concern, consumer effectiveness, and social norms emerge as key drivers, underscoring the importance of innovative approaches to further enrich this growing field. Another contribution examines the persistent challenge of the “glass ceiling” that hinders women’s advancement in professional spaces. Despite legal provisions for gender equality, women continue to encounter barriers linked to patriarchal norms, family responsibilities, and societal expectations. The analysis highlights that leadership skills, experience, supportive networks, and a focus on excellence often enable women to overcome these barriers. Yet meaningful progress requires collective action from governments, organizations, and academic institutions, along with mentorship and mutual support. A further study focuses on the evolution and adoption of cryptocurrency, from its origins with Bitcoin to its present role in global finance. Blockchain technology is shown to provide security and transparency, while regulatory responses vary worldwide. In India, cryptocurrencies are not recognized as legal tender, yet investor interest continues to grow, highlighting the urgent need for a clear regulatory framework. While challenges such as financial risk, user awareness, and lack of legislation persist, the study also points to the sector’s significant future potential.
